Watermarking your pictures to reduce plagiarism

The instances of plagiarism is increasing very day and we must try to protect our content as far as possible. We cannt do anything with respect to our text content but we can definetely watermark our pictures. And we need to do this in such a way that if the plagiarist attempts to remove our watermark the picture gets spoilt to some extent...Have a look at the following pictures and the possible ways of watermarking them...

This is my picture without any watermarkings

Now the pics with wrong watermarking

The above watermarks on any side of the picture can be easily removed by cropping the image without a bit damage to the picture. These pictures are preferred by plagiarists as they can easily remove the marks of the creator.

In the above picture, there is a transparent watermark in the center so that the look of the recipe is not spoilt..but then these too are an advantage for the plagiarist as any efforts to remove the watermark wouldnt damage the look of the recipe..

So, whats the best we can do on our part --- put up such a watermark that the picture will get spoilt if it is attempted to remove the watermark...

For that- open the picture in Picasa

First, crop the picture to the required size. Click on text "ABC".

Set the transperancy level to the maximum on the right. Select colour of text-always choose contrast colour so that the text is well visible on the food picture. Also choose font name, size and then click on the center of the food picture. Type in your blog address or blog name. You can even change it to bold /italic /underline and then click on apply. Save the changes by right clicking on the picture.

Here it is ready ... Now even if the plagiarist tries to use the image without editing, your blog link will appear in the picture- so its free publicity of your blog and if they try to edit, they will end up spoiling the picture.
